Personally, I am a fan of Linux web hosting. I like to do a lot of things from terminal (SSH). You don’t have to, though.

Most web hosts are using Linux. Linux has become the operating system for servers. There are still Windows servers in existence, but Linux web hosting is the way to go.
Linux web hosting is usually cheaper than Windows web hosting. It’s not very expensive to run a Linux server, so web hosting companies charge less. Saving on web hosting can help your business in many ways. Your business will have extra funds to spend on other things, such as advertising. This will probably allow your business to grow faster.
You don’t need to have any knowledge of Linux to use it these days. There are panels that you can use that will make your life easy. You can do everything from this panel – edit files, install scripts, etc.
It does help to have a knowledge of Linux, though. Personally, I tend to work from command line often. Since my server runs Linux, it’s really easy to get command line access to it. All that I have to do is SSH in and start doing things.
For all of you less techinical users – don’t be intimidated by Linux. Even if you are used to using Windows, you will find that using Linux is just as easy, if not easier, than using Windows. It’s also a lot cheaper to have Linux web hosting than Windows web hosting. I think that if you try Linux you will like it – it’s an awesome operating system.
